Hi I am Harsha, Welcome to my blog Healthy Cooking ‘N’ Fitness.
I’m 30 something wife, mother, software professional and who loves to write, workout and cook . I am married to Chandu for 8 years and going strong and we have two cute daughters Smriti and Dhriti.
Growing up I was always on the skinny side. I am from India and was a strict vegetarian growing up. Hence my mom made sure we get good servings of vegetables and fruits every day. Fast forward to 20 years, I got married and moved to United States with my husband.I was alone, no friends, away from family and no work( as I am on dependent visa and cant work). Food was my savior and slowly started to put on weight as I found comfort in sweets. I got pregnant meanwhile and blamed the weight gain on pregnancy. A year after my daughter was born I went to a party and all my friends were astonished as how big I am.
This was when I decided to take action of my body. I removed all of the sugars, unprocessed foods, soda anything junk from the pantry and started eating clean. Working out was never my friend but Zumba changed my life. I lost 40 pounds and started running which I had never done in my life. Completed 5k and hope to do many in the future. Now I am working full time as a Database Developer in a computer firm, and in a happier state of my life.
I love to workout especially Zumba, Running, Dance DVDs, Jillian Michaels Workout DVDs.
Being a vegetarian, I cook most of the time and hardly eat out. So most of recipes will be vegetarian :).
In 2013 we bought a brand new home and still in the process of decorating it. I have lots of ideas and pinned many to my pinterest boards. Occasionally you will see some DIY projects too around here.
I would like to share my recipes, ideas, fitness and health and also may write about my huge and loving family.
