Happy Friday Folks. Instead of the regular Friday Faves and Fitness I am going to write about my thoughts on Summer Shred.
Bobbi Mccormik of nHerShoes hosted the Summer Shred for the month of May. The participants of the Shred should take their before measurements and also write down their SMART goals and email to Bobbi. Also we were supposed to stay away from “white carbs, white sugar, fried foods and junk food”. It was kind of difficult the first few days with terrible headaches, but I didn’t give up with all the awesome motivation from the fellow participants. Bobbi created 2 Facebook groups for all the participants to share their thoughts, experiences, motivational quotes, workouts, food. It was an awesome group for sure. Love you all ladies and we all rock.
Bobbi emailed/shared with us Weekly Meal Plan, Shopping List and Workouts on every Saturday morning, so we can do grocery shopping during the weekend and also meal prep for the week. I followed the shopping list to the core for all the vegetarian options. Coming to Meal Plan I just followed few of the breakfast options like the Green Monster, Homemade Energy bars, Greek Yogurt with nuts and fruits. We even tracked the food on MyFitnessPal for the whole month and for the most of the days I stayed under my calorie goal.
I had attended couple of birthday parties and get together with friends and also some yummy food. It was very difficult but I managed not to indulge in all those goodies and made healthy choices . Weekly Workouts consisted of 5 days of workouts and 3 day running plan. I followed the workouts seriously but had occasional runs. I always hated cardio exercises (except for Zumba) and love abs/strength training, but the workouts have different cardio exercises outlined to which I am hooked. All of the workouts can be done at home with a yoga mat, pair of dumbbells, jump rope and a stability ball. So its easy for moms like me to do the workouts while watching my kid.
At the start of the Shred I made the following goal to achieve
” I want to lose 5 pounds and couple of inches by the end of the Summer Shred by doing all of the workouts and eating healthy and clean.”
As of today I lost 4 pounds and a total of 9 inches all over my body. Also I have been eating clean and working out 6 times a week. All in all it was a success to me. Currently I wear size 6 pants/dresses and I am thinking to go shopping tomorrow to try on some Size 4 pants/dresses. It would be a great achievement if I fit in that size as its been 5 years I ever fit in that size pants/dresses.
Bobbi is continuing the shred with Extreme Shred for all the participants of Summer Shred and I have signed up for it too. For all others who wish to join the Shred there is a June Shred too. Please check her blog for more details ( I am not sure if its ended / not).
Note: If you are interested to join a challenge for Summer Shape-up, Gina of Fitnessista created a Summer Shape-Up challenge and its free of cost. Please go to this link and you will have more details. If you like to change both the eating habits and workouts check this page. It has the meal plan for every day with workouts in the form of pictures which makes the workouts more easy to do.
Have a great weekend everyone. See you on Monday!!!
